Information from international courses - Health risk assessment I: Principles and applications

Dr. Ondřej Mikeš presented his experience from an international course "Health risk assessment I: Principles and applications" on the seminar on 19th April 2012 at the Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment. The course was organized by the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden in March 26-30, 2012. The participation of Dr. Mikeš was funded by the RECETOX NETWORKING project.

Course attendants acquired knowledge and understanding of the methods and procedures used in health risk assessment, as well as a professional attitude in interpretation of toxicological and epidemiological studies for use in health risk assessement. The course included fundamental concepts in toxicology and risk assessment, epidemiology, exposure assessment, and also covered risk assessment in regulatory decision-making, critical effects, extrapolation, uncertainty factors and allocation of health-based guidance values.
